Neha Singh

Research Engineer

I joined Xerox Research Centre India as a Research Engineer in Data Analytics Lab in July, 2016. I work on the Xhare cost thread of the Ride sharing project in Transportation.

My research interests include Graph Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Approximation Algorithms, Combinatorial Optimization and Social Network analysis.

In my sophomore year, I had worked on a research project in citation networks under Prof. Animesh Mukherjee, IIT Kharagpur. The project was titled “Understanding the intra-group hierarchy of a team”. I had to understand the importance of author’s position in a research paper. The fundamental claim was that although citation count can be considered to be the most effective way to judge a work, all the authors of that work should get the credit according to their amount of involvement. I spent my third year summers in Avaya Research Labs, Bangalore under the guidance of Dr. Ramanujan Kashi. In my fourth year, I did my summer project at University of Manitoba, Canada under Prof. Saman Muthukumarana working on estimating the properties of estimators in social network analysis.

I did my Integrated MSc in Mathematics and Computing from IIT Kharagpur. My master thesis was on Triad Prediction in Online Social networks under the guidance of Prof. Bibhas Adhikari. I tried to predict the likelihood of a future association between three nodes, knowing that there is no association between the nodes in the current state of the graph.

During my free time, I like to play Badminton, read novels and watch movies. Also, I am a big fan of art and like to read some research work that has application in Art!
