Simarjot Kaur

Research Engineer

Simarjot Kaur works as a Research Engineer in the Machine Learning area within the Data Analytics Lab at Conduent Labs India. Her research interests lie in the domains of applied machine learning, information retrieval systems and reinforcement learning theory. Apart from her research expertise domains, Simar also likes to work in new, unexplored and challenging areas so as to broaden her research horizon. She is currently working in a relatively new domain which is the intersection of Human Computer Interaction and Machine Learning with applications in Behavior Modeling primarily for Health Care and Transportation domains. In Conduent labs India , Simar has worked on the Persuasive Wellness Advisor Project, where she was instrumental in developing the Persuasion Engine which is a personalized and persuasive recommender system designed for patients with chronic diseases. Her future vision is to solve key HCI problems like persuasion and user engagement through machine learning techniques. In the long run, Simar would like to do research that has a social impact majorly in the area of health and care for the underprivileged.

Simar obtained her master’s and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from IIT Guwahati and Punjabi University, Patiala respectively.

She belongs to the royal city of Patiala and hence swears by the saying “Live Life King Size”. In her spare time, Simar loves to read different genres of literature, write poetry and travel around the world.
